The Tell Tale Heart

Rhyming Reader’s Theater script version adapted from the short story by Edgar Allan Poe. A part on every page keeps everyone engaged!

Use with groups of four.

The narrator of this horror story loves the old man and cares for him until he can no longer withstand his horrible eye, “pale blue […] with a film over it”. To be free of the vulture-like eye, the narrator kills the old man and confesses to the police, revealing his heightened sensitivities.

“This is a very worthwhile direction for curriculum. I work with kids who are taught separately due to the severity of their intellectual disability, and they enjoy the rhythm. There are other advantages too.”
